The On-Site Safety Officer (SSHO) is responsible for planning, implementing, and enforcing all safety, health, and environmental requirements for the project in compliance with USACE EM 385-1-1, OSHA, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The SSHO serves as the primary on-site authority for safety matters and has the authority to stop work when unsafe conditions or practices are observed. This position is dedicated full-time to the project and works closely with project management, quality control, subcontractors, and government representatives to ensure a safe, compliant, and mission-ready jobsite.
