A sales representative is a direct personal contact between the wholesaler and the retailer. This role requires reporting to the warehouse by 7:30 am to gather sales materials and begin your route by 8 am. You will be responsible for maintaining a professional appearance, reflecting credit to the organization, and showing loyalty to the product, wholesaler, and suppliers. Adherence to company policies regarding appearance, grooming, and conduct, including refraining from alcohol consumption on the job and avoiding incurring debts with retail accounts, is expected. You will also be responsible for the proper appearance, maintenance, and care of company equipment, including keeping the company vehicle clean and driving safely. Accurate record-keeping in route accounting software is essential, including inventory, account details, and product knowledge. Compliance with all North Carolina ABC laws and wholesaler permit requirements is mandatory. Duties at customer businesses include positive customer service, merchandising coolers, stocking shelves, rotating product, building displays, and continuous lifting and walking. You will adhere to the account service schedule, check company products and POS, take inventory, and ensure product quality by checking code dates. Orders will be taken while considering sales trends and suggesting additional sales. You will attempt to sell new items, improve tap share, and place POS. Open communication with the merchandising and delivery teams is crucial, and information on new accounts must be turned in immediately. Sales responsibilities include following product removal procedures, calling on all accounts on the route regularly, improving distribution, selling the entire product line, obtaining maximum product placement and tap handles, policing POS, and inventorying packages. You will pre-sell promotions and displays, improve brand visibility, and check stock to upgrade orders. Placing Point of Sale materials wisely and maintaining their condition is important. Cultivating relationships with retail staff, monitoring competitor activities, and reporting information to management are key. Special assignments, deliveries, and night calls may be required. Providing extra service to specific accounts and submitting leads for new draft accounts are also part of the role. Familiarity with Federal, State, and Local laws affecting beer sales and distribution is necessary, as is maintaining competitive pricing. Attendance at sales meetings is required.
