About The Position

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking applications for promotional opportunities to serve as a Terminal Supervisor within Washington State Ferries (WSF). Supervisors manage day-to-day terminal operations, including planning and providing continuous improvement in all processes and practices. A successful supervisor is a proactive individual who uses their exceptional communication skills to advance employer initiatives, ensure effective employee communication, and enforce collective bargaining agreements. In this role, you must develop reports, analyze data, and encourage superior position customer service among team members, as well as train, mentor, and build success for the entire team. As WSF navigates a transformation to decarbonize its system, guided by its core values Serve, Respect, Trust, Grow, and Navigate, and strategic priorities Service Excellence, Improved Communication and Empowered People, this is a meaningful time to join the organization. Supervisors may be assigned to remote terminals with limited advance notice and are expected to effectively oversee operations across all terminal locations. They may also conduct operational evaluations, including reviewing staff schedules and identifying trends in customer feedback and concerns.

Requirements

  • Intermediate knowledge of computer skills including Microsoft Office suites
  • Three (3) years of continuous employment within WSF Terminal Department.
  • Attend one of the 4 scheduled mandatory in-person informational sessions.
  • Complete all required FEMA certifications (IS-100.C, IS-200.C, IS-700.B, IS-800.D). Documents must be attached to application.
  • An attached Resume outlining (in reverse chronological order) your experience to date.
  • An attached Cover Letter that further explains your qualifications and indicates why you believe you are a viable candidate for this role.
  • Attached copies of your FEMA certifications (IS100, IS200, IS700, IS800)
  • Contact details for a minimum of three (3) individuals who can attest to your work performance, technical skills, and job-related competencies.
