About The Position

SFC NOVA LLC dba Sticky Fingers Cooking® is seeking reliable and energetic On-Call Substitute Chef Instructors to join their team and "Cultivate COOLinary Curiosity in Kids®". This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children, have a passion for cooking, and desire flexible, occasional teaching opportunities without a fixed weekly schedule. Substitute instructors will step in when regular Chef Instructors are unavailable, acting as a "kitchen hero" for last-minute needs. The position is available in three Northern Virginia areas: Herndon / Fairfax, McLean / Arlington, and Annandale / West Springfield. Instructors must be able to travel within their assigned area and commit to being on call at least two out of three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday), with availability for all three days being preferred.

Requirements

• Experienced working with children.
• Available at least 2 out of 3 days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
• Able to keep your morning available and remain reachable until 10 AM on assigned on-call days.
• Punctual, reliable, and confident managing groups of 8–12 kids.
• Comfortable stepping into a class with relatively short notice.
• Have or be willing to obtain a ServSafe Food Handler Certification.
• Able to lift up to 30 lbs and transport teaching materials.
• Must have a reliable car, valid driver's license, and ability to drive to school locations within your assigned coverage area.
• Must pass state & FBI background checks.
• All Sticky Fingers Cooking® instructors must undergo a fingerprint background check with the state and FBI. Your employment is continent upon a clear background check.

Nice To Haves

• Availability for all 3 days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) is preferred.
• An FCPS badge and/or DCPS clearance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Keep your morning available and be reachable until 10 AM on your assigned on-call day.
• If activated, lead a fun, engaging cooking class using the Sticky Fingers Cooking curriculum.
• Help kids chop, mix, measure, taste, and explore new foods.
• Prepare for class using the curriculum and ensure ingredients and materials are ready.
• Keep kids engaged, safe, curious, and excited about cooking.
• Arrive 15–20 minutes before class when activated.
