About The Position
Calvary Hospital and Calvary @Home, located in the Bronx, New York, has been dedicated to the palliative care of advanced cancer and other terminally ill patients and their families for over 125 years. Through a caring, compassionate philosophy of non-abandonment, the hospice provides a full spectrum of palliative services, including emotional, spiritual, and physical care. The hospice receives patients from referring institutions throughout New York City and the entire tristate area. Joining Calvary Hospital means becoming part of a family.
Requirements
- MSW from an accredited school of social work and one year related experience.
- New York LMSW or LCSW eligible.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to commute to multiple territories to ensure continuity of care.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- A vehicle is required to commute to patients (This requirement does not apply to positions assigned exclusively to Manhattan territory).
- Exhibits an ability and attitude relative to the spirit of caring and tradition at Calvary Hospital as required by specific job duties and functions.
Nice To Haves
- Minimum one (1) year bereavement counseling experience is preferred.
- At least one year of Hospice or Home Care experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provides medical social services, psychosocial and bereavement counseling to hospice patients and families.
