About The Position

The KidZone Children’s Museum is seeking an energetic, flexible, and dependable On-Call Museum Educator & Operations Assistant to support daily museum operations, educational programming, and visitor experience. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children and families, thrives in a dynamic environment, and is comfortable stepping into different roles as needed.
On-call staff are scheduled as coverage is needed for school programs, special events, field trips, weekends, holidays, and staff absences.

Requirements

• Experience working with young children, families, or the public (museum, school, childcare, camp, or customer service experience preferred)
• Friendly, patient, and engaging demeanor
• Flexible availability, including weekends and occasional holidays
• Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment
• Reliable and punctual
• Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the museum for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
• Comfortable sitting on the floor and interacting at child level

Nice To Haves

• Experience with early learning art and science and child development

Responsibilities

• Welcome visitors and create a warm, engaging environment for families
• Assist with admissions, memberships, and basic retail
• Answer visitor questions and support positive guest experiences
• Facilitate hands-on exhibits, art/science activities, and educational programs
• Engage children through play-based learning and inquiry
• Support birthday parties, community events, and special programs
• Assist with room setup, breakdown, and guest flow during events
• Help with event preparation with other staff members.
• Step in to support other staff as needed
• Follow museum policies and safety procedures
• Communicate clearly with staff and supervisors regarding scheduling and needs
