On-Call Driver - Class 1
About The Position
Lordco Auto Parts, Canada's largest privately held automotive parts distributor and Western Canada's go-to source for aftermarket parts and accessories, is seeking an On-Call Heavy-Duty Driver. This role offers flexibility for drivers who are winding down their careers, easing into retirement, or just starting out and seeking on-call work. The driver will provide extra coverage for vacations, sick days, injuries, or peak operational needs across the Kamloops, Salmon Arm, and Kelowna region, supporting the Heavy-Duty Department. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy being on the road, working independently, and being part of a dependable team.
Requirements
- Valid Class 1 Driver’s License (Manual Transmission Required)
- Previous commercial or delivery driving experience
- Winter driving and chain-up experience
- Clean driver’s abstract
- Safety-focused mindset and strong attention to detail
- Ability to lift, move, and handle freight
- Dependability, flexibility, and comfort working independently
Responsibilities
- Drive assigned delivery routes based on operational needs
- Support store deliveries, transfers, and replenishment runs
- Safely load, unload, and secure freight
- Complete delivery paperwork accurately and on time
- Communicate delays, route challenges, or equipment concerns
- Follow all safety, compliance, and transportation procedures
- Maintain a professional, customer-first approach with stores and internal teams
- Assist with transfer returns, empties, and freight movement as needed
