About The Position

This onsite role offers the unique opportunity to engage with young adults experiencing housing instability in a supportive environment, fostering compassion, safety, and meaningful connections. This is an on-call position with no guaranteed schedule. Candidates should be available to work overnight shifts, particularly Friday through Sunday between 9:00 PM and 8:00 AM, based on organizational needs. As an On-Call Direct Care Staff member, you play an essential role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and success of young adults staying in our Overnight Shelter. Every shift brings opportunities to build relationships, provide support, and help create a stable environment where residents can focus on their next steps.

Requirements

  • Commitment to The Coffee Oasis mission, vision, and core values.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least one year of experience working with marginalized populations.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet applications.
  • Valid driver's license and proof of personal automobile insurance.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Ability to pass a DCYF background check.
  • Completion of Bloodborne Pathogen training.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise young adults residing in the overnight shelter while maintaining a safe, supportive, and trauma-informed environment.
  • Complete resident intake, screening, orientation, and required documentation.
  • Respond to crisis situations, shelter phone calls, and walk-in inquiries with professionalism and compassion.
  • Administer medications in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Help young adults prepare for the day by ensuring they have breakfast and are ready for work, school, appointments, or other scheduled activities.
  • Encourage accountability, healthy boundaries, and positive life skills.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the shelter.
  • Participate in staff meetings and required training while supporting a collaborative team environment.
