About The Position

This position provides transportation services by driving bus, minibus, van or lightweight truck/car for seniors, youth, disabled, and the general public through fixed or deviated scheduled routes and special events. Responsibilities include transporting passengers in a safe and courteous manner. Must have excellent people skills by promoting positive and professional relationships with passengers and co-workers. Must be an effective member of the team by being reliable and completing required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner. This is an on-call position and requires being able to work on short notice.

Requirements

Must have a valid Washington state driver's license and be insurable by the Tribe’s insurance carrier
Must have prior experience driving a bus or public transportation vehicle or 4 years of verifiable customer service experience.
Must be able to effectively communicate with supervisors, co-workers and passengers.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Must have a valid Washington State Driver's License.
Must have a CPR certificate.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree and 1-year related experience; or High School Diploma/GED and 3 years related experience.
Must be able to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License CDL) with P1 endorsement within year of employment- Financial assistance available for qualifying individuals.
Defensive Driving course within 90 days of employment
PASS training within 90 days of employment

Responsibilities

Drives bus, Minibus van or lightweight truck/car to transport passengers over specified routes to local or distant points according to time schedule.
Assists disabled passengers in and out of vehicles utilizing wheelchair lifts where appropriate
Regulates heating, lighting, and ventilation systems for passenger comfort
Reports delays or accidents
Records trip information such as vehicle mileage, fuel used, or passengers carried on a daily driver sheet.
Inspects vehicle using pre-trip inspection form and ensure vehicle meets and operational standards; reports problems to the Transportation Manager
Coordinates dispatch and/or reservation activities where applicable
Secures the vehicle at the end of the workday.
Report for duty at times and places designated by the supervisor
Maintains a professional appearance at all times (I.E. Clean uniform, etc.)
Must be available to respond to on-call requests on short notice including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and must maintain open communication with dispatch regarding availability
