About The Position

Kentucky Educational Television (KET) has an opening for an On-Air Host and Moderator in Lexington, Kentucky. KET is Kentucky's only statewide media organization, reaching over two million people weekly and broadcasting into eight states and ten media markets, with live and on-demand streaming services. In addition to PBS programming, KET produces hundreds of hours of local productions and educational resources annually. This contract position offers a unique opportunity to work with a respected public media team, supporting public affairs and general productions, including Kentucky's only nightly statewide news program, six locally produced series, and special programs. The facilities are located in a thriving community known for affordable living, educational opportunities, and sporting events. This role is an opportunity to join an excellent television public affairs team and contribute to a highly respected public media organization.

Requirements

  • Ability to serve as co-producer and on-air talent for Kentucky Tonight.
  • Ability to determine guest panelists and program content.
  • Ability to invite guests, write scripts, and develop questions.
  • Ability to seek diversity of opinion, perspective, geography, and demography.
  • Ability to secure and deliver video, photographs, text graphics, or other images from guests.
  • Ability to act as on-camera talent for other KET productions.
  • Ability to produce and host interview segments.
  • Must submit a reel.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as co-producer and on-air talent for Kentucky Tonight, taped in the Lexington studio.
  • Determine guest panelists and program content based on timely and relevant issues.
  • Invite all guests, write all scripts, and develop questions.
  • Seek diversity of opinion, perspective, geography, and demography for content and guest panelists.
  • Secure and deliver video, photographs, text graphics, or other images from guests two days prior to taping to ensure availability and production quality (in collaboration with the associate and/or co-producer).
  • Occasionally act as on-camera talent for other KET productions, including KET Forums, Kentucky Edition, and other programs.
  • Produce and host interview segments as needed for Kentucky Edition and other KET productions.
