About The Position

The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking interns for paid internship opportunities within the Camden Vicinage. Interns will perform a variety of clerical, administrative, supportive tasks, and customer service duties in connection with court proceedings. This role offers a chance to gain insight and knowledge of the court system. The Judiciary is a large team operating with high standards of independence, integrity, fairness, and quality service, engaged in work that has purpose and makes a difference in the lives of the public served. The work involves building public trust and confidence in the court system, addressing issues such as bail reform, marijuana decriminalization, and recovery court. The Judiciary workforce improves the lives of individuals and families daily through work in courtrooms, administrative offices, training rooms, IT offices, or in the field. The organization honors the dignity and individualism of each member while fostering professionalism and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university pursuing a degree.
  • Unofficial College or University transcript must be included in your application in order to be considered.
  • Applicants must be available from August 2026 through June 2027.
  • Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.
  • Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting.
  • In accordance with N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person may request an exemption from that requirement from the Employee Residency Review Committee in the Department of Labor & Workforce Development on the basis of either hardship or employer critical need.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of clerical, administrative, supportive tasks, and customer service duties in connection with proceedings instituted before the Court.
  • Assist with tasks such as data entry and look-ups, filing, and making photocopies.
  • Treat all personnel, clients, and members of the public with dignity, courtesy, and respect.
