About The Position

The Olympic Sports Athletic Trainer serves as a primary staff member within the Sports Medicine section of Campus Health. This position delivers comprehensive athletic training services to students, with primary responsibility for assigned intercollegiate athletic team(s). Key responsibilities include injury assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and referral, as well as emergency care response in alignment with established emergency action plans. The position supports the academic and clinical education of undergraduate and graduate Athletic Training students in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science and provides clinical instruction to residents, medical students, and affiliated allied health trainees. The role may also contribute to research initiatives conducted within the Sports Medicine Program.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience operating under the Athletic Trainer Licensure Act.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in Athletic Training.
  • Must possess a North Carolina Athletic Training License or have a North Carolina Athletic Training license on the start date.
  • Must possess a Professional CPR certification.
  • Ability to develop and prepare emergency action plans.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced master’s degree or Advanced training at the Collegiate level.
  • 3 years of experience as an Athletic Trainer at the Division 1A college level.
  • Additional certifications and skills in soft tissue modalities, dry needling, Graston technique, and/or blood flow restriction.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive athletic training services to students.
  • Provide primary responsibility for assigned intercollegiate athletic team(s).
  • Perform injury assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and referral.
  • Respond to emergency care situations in alignment with established emergency action plans.
  • Support the academic and clinical education of undergraduate and graduate Athletic Training students.
  • Provide clinical instruction to residents, medical students, and affiliated allied health trainees.
  • Contribute to research initiatives conducted within the Sports Medicine Program.
