Wave Life Sciences, an oligonucleotide therapeutics company, seeks a highly motivated co-op student to join its team of scientists in Lexington, Massachusetts. The co-op student will gain exposure to the areas of oligonucleotide synthesis, chromatographic purification, tangential flow filtration (TFF) and analysis. Co-ops will be trained in a variety of laboratory techniques and instrumentation, making this an excellent learning opportunity. This is an ideal position for any student, including those looking for their first co-op, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail who thrive in a team-oriented, fast-paced, and cross-disciplinary biotech environment. Organic chemistry or Biochemistry laboratory experience is preferred.

  • Effective communication skills and ability to present experimental results at group meetings

Responsibilities

  • Reagent preparation & column packing for Oligo synthesis
  • Buffer preparation, cleaning and sanitization of equipment used to manufacture oligonucleotides
  • Purification of oligonucleotides
  • Oligonucleotide synthesis preparation and handling of amidites
  • Oligo quantitation using spectrophotometers
  • Tangential Flow Filtration of purified oligos
  • Operation of automated oligonucleotide synthesizers, purifiers, tangential flow filtration (TFF) systems and Lyophilizers
  • Analysis of oligonucleotide samples by UPLC and LC-MS
  • Using excel spreadsheets for data processing, analysis, and interpretation
  • Documentation of lab experiments in an electronic notebook (ELN)
  • Batch record review
  • Inventory maintenance
