OIPA Configuration Sr. Analyst We’re looking for a tech‑curious problem solver who enjoys working in complex systems and wants to build expertise in OIPA configuration. This role is ideal for someone early‑mid career who is ready to step into deeper technical ownership and has strong upward potential. About the Role As an OIPA Configuration Sr. Analyst, you’ll convert business and product requirements into system behavior using OIPA. You’ll build configurations, test features, and partner across Actuarial, IT, and Product to support both product launches and ongoing administration.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Math, Actuarial Science, or related field.
  • 3–4+ years in systems, ETL, data, or config‑heavy roles (insurance preferred but not required).
  • Familiarity with XML, SQL, VBA/Excel, or similar tools.
  • Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, CIS or similar background requiring modeling, programming or quantitative analysis.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office products (including VBA within Access and Excel) programming languages, and likely actuarial models.
  • Basic level of perspective, customer focus, dealing with ambiguity, drive for results, business perspective and analysis.
  • Proficient level of problem solving, learning on the fly, and making the best use of system capabilities.

Nice To Haves

  • OIPA configuration experience is a plus, not a requirement.
  • Actuarial exams welcome, but this role does not align with active exam study programs.
  • May have passed an actuarial exam, LOMA or other industry exams.
  • No finance or actuarial experience needed. Typical candidate may have internship, associate teaching or tutoring experience.

Responsibilities

  • Configure rules, calculations, and system logic within OIPA (80–90% of the role).
  • Build test tools and validate product calculations
  • Analyze data and system behavior to identify improvements or defects.
  • Assist in projection/valuation processes and financial/actuarial reporting workflows.
  • Contribute ideas to improve performance, architecture, and operational processes.
  • Compiles, categorizes and analyzes data, with direction and oversight.
  • Assists in building testing tools, analyzing product calculations and product illustrations.
  • Aids in building, maintaining and running actuarial, projection and valuation models.
  • Completes financial reporting and analysis with direct oversite.
  • Responsible for pricing and implementation of products with input and oversite.
  • Assists in valuation/reserving under multiple accounting regimes (statutory, GAAP and tax) for products.
  • Assists with analysis of reinsurance opportunities and risks for Nationwide Financial business products.
  • Assists in activities related to a specialized phase of data and analytics which may include data governance, data strategy development, data modeling, data requirements, data manipulation, and/or requirements elicitation when needed.
  • Assists in the analysis and validation of moderately sophisticated business processes and in the development and implementation of new programs and/or modifications of existing applications when required.
  • May assist in the design, prototyping, coding and other methodologies for new and/or existing applications including development of test plans.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
