About The Position

Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation is the largest provider of dredging services in the United States and is expanding into the offshore wind energy industry. With over 135 years of experience, the company has a strong safety culture (Incident-and-Injury-Free®) and a large, diverse fleet of specialized vessels. They employ experienced engineering staff and have a disciplined training program for engineers. This opportunity is for Oilers on hydraulic dredge and support boats near the Gulf Coast. The role involves oiling and greasing marine equipment, operating machinery, assisting with repairs, and inspecting tank levels. The position may also involve lifting, carrying, pulling, or pushing equipment and supplies up to 75 lbs.

Requirements

  • Commitment to work safety and follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to perform specialized work aboard the dredge and attendant plant
  • Must complete a pre-employment physical examination and drug screen and background checks
  • Valid TWIC card required

Responsibilities

  • Oils and greases marine equipment such as diesel engines, pumps, shafts and bearings.
  • May operate marine diesel engines and other machinery.
  • May relieve the engineer on main engine and generator watch in the engineers control booth.
  • Assists in making engine room repairs.
  • Inspects levels in fuel, water, oil and slop oil tanks.
  • May lift, carry, pull or push miscellaneous equipment, supplies and parts weighing up to 75 lbs.
