About The Position

In this role, you will be responsible for conducting safety audits, training staff, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has prior experience in construction safety, strong analytical skills, and a passion for cultivating a safe work environment.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in construction health and safety, with a strong understanding of OSHA regulations.
  • Certification in OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety
  • Demonstrated experience conducting safety audits, incident investigations, and safety training.
  • Strong understanding of construction site processes and potential hazards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with a diverse workforce.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to generate reports and maintain documentation.
  • Ability to travel to multiple sites and work in various environmental conditions.
  • Work ethic and timeliness

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • 510/500 preferred not required
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular and thorough site inspections to assess safety hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Assist in developing and updating safety programs, policies, and procedures tailored to specific projects.
  • Lead investigations of accidents, near-misses, and unsafe working conditions. Compile detailed reports, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventative measures.
  • Facilitate safety training programs for employees and subcontractors on various topics such as hazard recognition, excavations, confined spaces, fall protection, PPE, and emergency procedures. Ensure employees are well-informed about safety protocols.
  • Ensure that all workers, including subcontractors, adhere to safety regulations. Review Activity Hazard Analysis (AHAs), safety data sheets (SDS), and risk assessments.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of local, state, and federal health and safety regulations and ensure the company remains compliant.
  • Ensure that personal protective equipment is properly used and maintained. Conduct periodic audits to verify that safety equipment is available and in good condition.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of safety inspections, training sessions, incident reports, and safety-related statistics.
  • Work closely with the project management team to foster a strong culture of safety and provide guidance on best practices. Participate in and lead safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and drills. Ensure that workers are prepared to handle emergencies such as fires, medical incidents, or hazardous material spills.
