About The Position

The OHE Lineman B assists the Journeyman Lineman and Foreman while training and learning the trade. The role performs work related to constructing and maintaining poles, power lines, auxiliary facilities, and equipment for the transmission and distribution of electricity. The Lineman B supports and learns from the Lineman team, works with other department personnel, and sets a good example for newer apprentices by following and teaching safe practices.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of lineman experience.
• Valid Class A CDL.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including bending, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds; climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, standing, and twisting; and working in inclement weather.
• Vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, ability to judge distance and spatial relationships, precise hand-eye coordination, and ability to identify and distinguish colors.

Nice To Haves

• 3 or more years of lineman experience.
• OSHA 10 Certification.

Responsibilities

• Construct, maintain, and inspect electrical transmission and distribution lines.
• Apply technical skills to operate and maintain reliable electrical services, completing work with quality and timeliness.
• Connect and disconnect, install and remove, move, and transfer electrical devices at customer facilities, including transformers, transformer banks, regulators, switches, switching devices, and capacitor banks.
• Route or reroute power lines over, under, or around existing lines and structures.
• Inspect and/or remove damaged power lines.
• Assist with carrying poles, digging holes, and other work involved in setting or replacing poles.
• Perform line switching or sectionalizing as directed.
• Provide backup for the Class A Apprentice Lineman and assist with completing duties.
• Submit all documentation required by the Apprentice Program on time.
• Troubleshoot electrical problems on customer equipment as needed.
• Drive a bucket truck to job sites and maintain truck stock.
• Investigate consumer complaints and make repairs to energized electrical distribution lines as needed.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.
