Responsibilities
- Coordinate and support the implementation of OCWA's Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) management system, programs, policies, and initiatives across the Agency.
- Research emerging health and safety trends, legislative changes, and industry best practices, and provide recommendations to support continuous improvement of OH&S programs.
- Conduct risk and impact assessments related to health and safety legislation, directives, workplace incidents, and organizational initiatives.
- Provide advice, guidance, and interpretation to managers, employees, Joint Health and Safety Committees (JHSCs), and health and safety representatives on a broad range of occupational health and safety matters.
- Assist with the development, delivery, and evaluation of health and safety training programs, workshops, communications, and awareness initiatives.
- Support workplace incident management activities, including monitoring trends, analyzing data, and recommending strategies to improve safety performance and reduce workplace risk.
- Coordinate health and safety projects and initiatives, including project planning, stakeholder engagement, tracking deliverables, and reporting on outcomes.
- Develop and maintain health and safety communications, procedures, guidelines, and reporting tools to support compliance and employee awareness.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including the Ministry of Labour, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), safety organizations, and industry partners.
- Participate on committees, working groups, and project teams to support the delivery of corporate health and safety priorities.
- Perform other duties, projects, and assignments as required.
