About The Position

Evansville Christian School is seeking detail-oriented and dependable individuals to serve as the Official Scorebook Keeper for Boys and Girls Basketball games. As an integral member of the game-day operations team, this role is responsible for maintaining the official NFHS basketball scorebook at the scorer’s table, tracking game flow, individual and team statistics, and maintaining accurate records in cooperation with the game officials. This position would require the applicant to travel with the team to away games as well as attending all home games. We are hiring for one individual for the boys’ team and one individual for the girls’ team.

Requirements

• Solid understanding of high school basketball rules, scoring conventions, and official hand signals.
• Prior experience keeping a basketball scorebook or working game-day athletic operations preferred.
• Strong concentration, focus, and ability to remain objective under fast-paced, high-intensity game conditions.
• High attention to detail and neat legibility when recording game data.
• High school diploma or active high school student in good standing.
• Reliability, punctuality, and availability for evening and weekend basketball games.
• Agree with ECS Articles of Faith, the ECS position statements, and abide by the ECS Code of Christian Conduct, as well as demonstrate support of ECS faculty/staff and policies.
• Have a heart for children, Christian education, and the ministry of ECS.
• Complete and pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the official physical scorebook for home and visiting Boys and Girls Basketball games.
• Accurately track running score, individual field goals, free throws, team fouls, individual fouls, and timeouts called by each team.
• Confirm starting lineups, jersey numbers, and team rosters with head coaches and game officials prior to tip-off.
• Notify game officials immediately regarding team foul counts, bonus situations, player disqualifications (5 fouls), or roster technical fouls.
• Work collaboratively with the scoreboard operator, public address announcer, and game referees to resolve timing or scoring discrepancies quickly and accurately.
• Uphold the Christian mission, professionalism, and neutral standard required at the official scorer’s table.
