Office Support Substitute
About The Position
This is a unique "paid co-working" opportunity for self-employed professionals who run their own online businesses, freelance, or otherwise work for themselves from home. The role involves working at a dog facility, bringing your own laptop to do your regular income-producing work, while also being available to assist the facility staff when needed. Shifts are offered on an as-needed basis, typically with advance notice, and are not guaranteed. The position is designed for individuals seeking a flexible, fun, and paid change of scenery a few days a month, supplementing their existing income.
Requirements
- Currently have an established business, freelance/contract work, online business, or other self-employed income-producing work you normally perform from home.
- At least one position, business, or ongoing professional commitment held for 12+ consecutive months since 2023.
- At least 1 year of experience in a fast-paced, customer-facing role.
- Live within a 15-minute drive of 6628 Evergreen Way.
- Comfortable being on your feet when needed and able to stand, walk, bend, crouch, move x-pens, and safely assist with dogs—including very large dogs.
- Strong communication and follow-through.
- Must be able to pass a federal background check.
- Comfortable, durable clothes and closed-toe shoes are a must.
- Your own work must be truly flexible and allow you to step away immediately when needed.
Nice To Haves
- Comfortable around dogs of every size—including 150+ lb dogs—and don't mind barking, slobber, dog hair, muddy paws, and the energy of an active pet facility.
Responsibilities
- Bring your laptop and perform your own income-producing work at the facility.
- Be available to assist facility staff when coverage is needed.
- Perform front desk duties such as greeting clients, assisting with check-ins/checkouts.
- Provide direct supervision of dogs in daycare or while waiting for grooming.
- Assist grooming staff by holding or steadying dogs.
- Help with facility tasks such as setting up or taking down x-pens and light cleaning.
Benefits
- $18/hour, or $90 for a full 9 AM–2 PM substitute shift.
