About The Position

The purpose of this position is to aid staff in processing and administering state and federal mandated programs as efficiently and effectively as possible by performing clerical assignments requiring a degree of independent judgment and knowledge of agency procedures and practices. The role involves acting as an office support staff member, professionally receiving clients and visitors, and understanding the value of initial contact with the agency. This position requires productive use of time by assisting with all office support duties, managing income and outgoing mail, handling all facets of the EBT card system, managing agency forms/packets inventory, and maintaining organization of specific storage and supply rooms. The Office Support Specialist will perform general office support for the entire agency, including Public Health, WIC, IMU, Child Support, Social Services, and Transportation, in a productive and efficient manner. A key aspect of this role is contributing to the agency-wide team process of service delivery. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to type.
  • Good use of English.
  • Good proof-reading skills/spelling.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of agency, workers, and programs involved.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in a helpful, tactful manner in dealing with clients/public/staff.
  • Understand and follow moderately complex oral and written instructions.
  • Make minor decisions in accordance with precedents and regulations, and apply these to work situations.
  • Ability to maintain respectful and effective working relationships.
  • Three years of increasingly responsible clerical experience or experience working with the public.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities
