The Office of Advocacy and Education (OAE) Peer Educators are responsible for providing campus-wide education to currently enrolled OU students. OAE Peer Educators have the opportunity to facilitate various presentations, workshops, and outreach events and assist with social media and graphic design campaigns related to: gender-based violence prevention, substance misuse prevention, sexual health, hazing prevention, and other general health and wellness topics. Peer Educators will be trained and certified under national NASPA standards and have access to other professional development opportunities and resources. Presentations, workshops, and outreach events may include but are not limited to: Camp Crimson/Mandatory Trainings – Both The Consent Conversation and Let’s Talk about Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) are mandatory trainings for incoming students. These are 1-hour long presentations, typically facilitated during Camp Crimson. Gender-Based Violence Prevention – The Consent Conversation, The Consent Bar, #RelationshipGoals, Boundaries, and other presentations designed to increase understanding of and prevent gender-based violence (including sexual and dating violence, stalking, and harassment) on campus and beyond. Substance Misuse Prevention – Let's Talk about AOD, Let's Talk about AOD 2.0, Moderation 101, and other presentations designed to increase understanding of and prevent substance misuse (including binge drinking, prescription misuse, illicit drug use, overdose, etc.) and the recovery process on campus and beyond. Hazing – Stop Hazing, Stop Hazing 2.0, and other presentations designed to increase awareness and prevention around hazing in our campus community including defining hazing, recognizing signs, and knowing how to report. Sexual Health – Sexperts and other presentations designed to empower students through knowledge and skills that help them to protect their health, make informed choices, and understand community impacts of sexual health. General Health & Wellness – Sleep Talk, Stress Management, SafeBreak, and other presentations designed to help students navigate common issues around various wellness topics as students.
