About The Position

The Office Manager will operate under the supervision of the Tribal Historic Preservation Officer (THPO) and will provide high-level administrative, fiscal, and operational management for the Tribal Historic Preservation Office. This position works closely with the Tribal Archaeologist, Traditional Cultural Specialist, Project Coordinator, and program staff to ensure effective coordination, compliance, and execution of program objectives related to the protection and preservation of cultural and natural resources within the exterior boundaries of the Reservation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in office administration and business systems.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Subject to pre-employment, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing.
  • Must submit to a background check and pass an MVR screening.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative and operational support for the THPO, ensuring efficient daily office operations and continuity in the absence of the Tribal Historic Preservation Officer.
  • Assist in managing a federally regulated department, supporting compliance with tribal, federal, and non-federal requirements across all projects and undertakings.
  • Manage intake, logging, tracking, reporting, and compliance monitoring of federal undertakings, project timelines, deliverables, and field activities.
  • Oversee billing, accounting, procurement, budgeting, ledger maintenance, and financial reporting in compliance with tribal and federal policies and accepted accounting principles.
  • Maintain, safeguard, and manage all program records, permits, correspondence, and confidential documentation through organized, secure electronic and physical filing systems.
  • Coordinate with the Tribal Archaeologist, Tribal Monitors, vendors, and staff; assist with scheduling, training, travel, payroll documentation, and procurement processes.
  • Supervise office staff as needed, respond to inquiries professionally, and ensure efficient workflow and office functionality.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and ensure adherence to all applicable tribal and federal laws, regulations, and program requirements.
  • Will perform other duties as assigned.
