Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
  • 5 years of prior experience in civil infrastructure, public works, or development projects
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications
  • Strong understanding of the construction process and field operations
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work on active construction sites, including uneven terrain, ladders, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) standards, specifications, and Construction Manual and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) procedures is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Observe construction activities and support field operations on active transportation and public works projects.
  • Prepare and process RFIs, submittals, change orders, progress payments, and other project communications.
  • Assist with interpretation of plans and specifications to support field and office construction decisions.
  • Maintain project files, as-built documentation, schedules, and support prevailing wage and labor compliance tracking.
  • Facilitate communication between clients, contractors, and design teams to support project alignment and progress.
