About The Position

Toole Design is seeking an experienced multimodal transportation leader to serve as Office Director for its Los Angeles, California team. The role leads the office and its staff, supports a positive and inclusive culture, and serves as a liaison with company leadership and external partners. The Director will manage and oversee projects, pursue and win work, and ensure the team delivers high-quality, equity-centered work. The position also involves mentoring and recruiting staff and collaborating with colleagues across the West and nationwide. The Director will help shape and strengthen the firm’s growing Western practice, supported by company leadership and operations teams.

Toole Design is an employee-owned firm of engineers, planners, landscape architects, and urban designers focused on safer, more connected communities and sustainable multimodal transportation. Requirements

• Degree in Planning or a related field, or a very strong technical understanding of the Architecture and Engineering industry.
• A minimum of 12 years of experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a consulting firm or similar environment.
• Recent experience with and active relationships among Los Angeles-area public sector agencies.
• Experience managing staff.
• Experience pursuing and winning competitively bid work.
• Experience solving problems, providing a high level of client service, and helping others navigate difficult situations.
• Effective communication skills and strong analytical judgment.
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines and mentor and motivate diverse teams.
