About The Position

This position serves as a Background Check Associate within the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). The role involves performing data entry for various systems including CANTS, Sex Offender Registry System (SORS), National Sex Offender Registry System (NSORS), Out-of-State CANTS, Interstate Criminal History, Illinois State Police, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and driver eligibility status for facility drivers. The associate will also prepare, keyboard, and maintain complex reports related to the Background Check Unit (BCU) and application/recommendation materials. Additionally, the position acts as a liaison to requesting parties for background check authorizations and serves as the Central Office of Licensing contact for facility driver checks. Responsibilities include receiving, sorting, reviewing, and distributing incoming mail, and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
  • Requires 2 years of office experience.
  • Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 45 wpm.
  • Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.

Responsibilities

  • Performs data entry of CANTS, Sex Offender Registry System (SORS), National Sex Offender Registry System (NSORS), Out-of-State CANTS, Interstate Criminal History, Illinois State Police, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and/or driver eligibility status for facility drivers into the appropriate Departmental system
  • Prepares, keyboards, and maintains complex, highly specialized Background Check Unit (BCU) reports and other reports related to application and recommendation materials processed through Central Office
  • Serves as liaison to requesting parties regarding information on Authorization for Background Check
  • Serves as Central Office of Licensing contact for all issues concerning facility driver checks
  • Receives, sorts, reviews, and distributes incoming mail
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
