The IRMC Physician Group is seeking a full-time Office Assistant for their Orthopedics Indiana Office. This role involves cheerfully greeting and registering patients, managing registration forms, collecting and updating patient information, verifying insurance eligibility, and processing payments. The assistant will also handle incoming calls, manage patient appointments, maintain logs, forward medical record requests, monitor patient reminder systems, and ensure adherence to HIPAA and other confidentiality rules. Additional duties include accepting mail, practicing sterile techniques when handling specimens, managing clerical supplies, maintaining a clean and organized front desk and waiting area, retrieving faxes, obtaining prior authorizations, and traveling to other IPG offices as needed. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for 2 years of medical office or customer service experience and completion of a medical secretarial program. Strong knowledge of medical practice operations, clerical equipment, computer systems, and medical terminology is necessary, along with the ability to handle multiline telephones, operate office equipment, and uphold core values. Excellent interpersonal, communication, critical-thinking, and organizational skills are essential for maintaining cooperative relationships and accurate records.
