About The Position

Mad Science of St. Louis is seeking a reliable, organized, and enthusiastic individual for a unique part-time role that blends office support with occasional after-school teaching. This is a year-round position, typically Monday through Friday, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The role is primarily office-based, but the selected candidate must also be comfortable teaching hands-on science and art enrichment classes to elementary-age children when required. This position involves supporting daily office operations and serving as an on-call instructor for both Mad Science and Imagine Arts Academy programs. Office duties include answering phones, professional communication with various stakeholders, responding to emails, customer service, processing paperwork, assisting with office projects, supporting operations and program logistics, and preparing equipment. Teaching duties involve leading science and art classes for elementary students, adhering to provided lesson plans and curriculum, fostering a fun and safe learning environment, and representing the programs professionally at local schools. All necessary lesson materials, training, and curriculum will be provided.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills, especially by phone and email
  • Experience working with groups of children in an instructional setting
  • Comfort teaching both science and art activities using the provided lesson plans
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and shift between office, customer service, operations, and teaching responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • A team-player attitude and willingness to help wherever needed
  • Access to a reliable automobile every day
  • Ability to occasionally lift equipment up to 30 lbs.
