The Alaska Psychiatric Institute (API) is recruiting for a Office Assistant 2 What You Will Be Doing: Regularly inventory unit stock and obtain equipment and supplies. Copy forms and make packets of information and program manuals as assigned. Operate 2-way radios, pagers, multi-line telephone and security monitors. Activate access points devices throughout the hospital. Monitor duress alarms. Activating alarm systems, when necessary. The Working Environment You Can Expect: The selected candidate will work in an environment that is fast paced, busy and challenging at times, but embraces collaboration through working closely with supervisors, managers, and personnel to assist in providing services to Alaska Psychiatric Institute. This position is located at 3700 Piper Street in the U-MED district of east Anchorage which offers several maintained walking trails, parks and nearby lakes. This area is filled with several restaurants, shopping stores, and has easy access to public transportation. Flexibility: Is open to change and new information; adapts behavior or work methods in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles; effectively deals with ambiguity. Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Requirements

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • One year of experience that includes clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
  • Education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience; 150 hours of vocation education equal one month of experience).
  • Some positions in this class may require the incumbent to operate motor vehicles. Such positions require that the applicant possess a regular driver's license and be 18 years of age or older.
  • Some position in this class may require skill in typing.
