About The Position

Under the general direction of the Senior Associate Dean of Students, the Off-Campus Housing & Housing Security Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, implementation, and ongoing operation of programs and services that support students living off campus and students experiencing housing insecurity or instability. The incumbent serves as the primary resource for supporting students in securing safe and affordable housing, navigating off-campus living, and accessing resources that promote housing stability and student success. The Off-Campus Housing & Housing Security Coordinator manages educational programming, case management, outreach, and community partnerships related to off-campus living and housing security. The position collaborates closely with campus departments, local property managers, landlords, community organizations, and city partners to support student housing needs, strengthen town-gown relationships, and promote positive student engagement within the surrounding community. The incumbent also supports students experiencing housing insecurity through individualized support, resource coordination, financial literacy education, and referrals to campus and community services.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of individual counseling techniques, non-clinical case management practices, and student development theory as applied in a higher education setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of housing insecurity, off-campus student living environments, tenant rights, rental practices, and housing-related policies and affordability challenges.
  • Ability to advise students individually and in groups on complex, sensitive matters including housing instability, financial concerns, and community living challenges.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations, exercise sound independent judgment, and develop and implement effective courses of action where precedents or guidelines may not exist.
  • Ability to provide non-clinical case management and resource coordination, including needs assessment, stabilization planning, and ongoing follow-up with students experiencing housing insecurity.
