About The Position

The Inspector performs timely and accurate inspection activities on incoming parts and materials, ensuring that high quality products are evaluated efficiently and moved into stock. During inspection, s/he verifies specified dimensions of product or material and compares results to material and design specifications, planners and other sources to verify conformance to product requirements. Depending on the scope of work and products, this may require the use of basic measuring instruments and inspection tools such as rulers, tape measures, calipers, gauges, or micrometers or more advanced techniques including the calibration and use of varied measuring instruments and inspection tools such as comparators and coordinate measuring machines. Inspectors may be required to review supplier provided first article reports for assigned product types. They investigate and resolve discrepancies between planners, material and other approved sources to ensure product adherence to material certifications and technical requirements. Upon realization of material rejections, they investigate the complete lot for defects, as required. They record inspection data and results, including acceptance-rejection status in the ERP system; reject defective parts and lots, mark or label the defective product appropriately, and move the material to a bond cage or other designated area to be evaluated for corrective action or return to the vendor. They facilitate or assist management in implementing corrective actions for rejections and prepare approved returns to be shipped back to vendors with appropriate documentation. From time to time, they may perform basic receiving coordination activities and other duties or participate in various projects.
