Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of Ocean Import / Export experience
  • Strong knowledge of ocean import/export operations, shipping documentation, customs procedures, and carrier coordination.
  • Excellent communication, prioritization, organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Being able to work independently and part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Mandarin is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily ocean import operations, from shipment, pre-alerts and arrival notices through customs clearance coordination, delivery, and billing.
  • Supervise and train the ocean import team, assign workloads, and ensure timely and accurate shipment processing.
  • Coordinate with overseas offices, carriers, co-loaders, customs brokers, warehouses, and trucking companies.
  • Monitor vessel schedules, cargo availability, free time, and delivery appointments to minimize demurrage, detention, and storage charges.
  • Review shipping documents and ensure compliance with company procedures and applicable import requirements.
  • Keep customers informed of shipment status and promptly resolve delays, discrepancies, and service issues.
  • Review freight costs, selling rates, vendor invoices, and customer billing to ensure accuracy and protect shipment profitability.
  • Ensure payments and cargo release requirements are met according to company credit policies.
  • Maintain accurate shipment records and timely updates in the operating system.
  • Monitor team performance, improve operating procedures, and support account transitions and new customer onboarding.
  • Work closely with sales, accounting, and branch management to maintain service quality and meet branch goals.
