The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) assists in the implementation of treatment programs and plan of care as directed by the licensed Occupational Therapist, in accordance with current State Practice Act. This role involves providing occupational therapy modalities appropriate to the patient’s clinical status and needs, assessing and reassessing patient pain, and educating patients and caregivers in effective pain management modalities. The OTA also performs transfer and discharge planning functions, participates in interdisciplinary team conferences, and maintains current knowledge of community resources to facilitate optimal patient outcomes.
