Occupational Therapy Assistant
About The Position
As a per diem, nonexempt Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant with CPS Solutions, LLC Rehabilitation Services team at Parrish Medical Center, you will be responsible for administering occupational therapy (OT) modalities of treatment as directed by the Occupational Therapist. You will assist with restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability following injury or disease; participate in operational aspects of the department; and maintain department performance improvement activities. This position may also support our location in Port St John. Parrish Medical Center (PMC) is a public, not-for-profit acute care healing hospital with 210 beds located on the Space Coast of Florida. The Rehabilitation Department core hours are Monday-Sunday from 8:00am-4:300pm and as needed to support acute care hospital rehab staff. Specialty services include Vestibular Rehab and hand therapy to those who are 18 year of age and older. Department hours are Monday-Friday from 7:00am-4:00pm and as needed to provide support for Parrish Medical Center outpatient services.
Requirements
- Associate Degree (AS) in Occupational Therapy Assisting
- Ability to obtain FL OTA license prior to start (within 4 weeks of ooffer)
- Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology to provide patient exercise, massage, paraffin baths, hot and cold packs, traction, ultrasound, and ADL retraining
Nice To Haves
- Current Florida OTA license in good standing
- Lymphedema Certified
- 1+ years of experience
- Recent inpatient acute and outpatient treatment experience
Responsibilities
- Administers treatments and occupational agents as directed by the Staff OT after patient evaluation, observes and evaluates treatment effects and reviews observations with Staff OT
- Provides treatment and rehab services to patients who have experienced injury or disabling disease
- Assists patients in reaching maximum performance and level of function while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities
- Monitors and documents patient treatment and response according to current standards and policies
- Assess patient progress with treatment and requests re-assessment from Staff OT as per policy. This includes treatment in all patient populations
- Engages patient and family members in the educational process of designed home exercise programs for therapy that identifies and takes into consideration psychosocial, cultural, and ethical/religious special needs for patient and family members
