The Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) will utilize evidence-based practice to support clinical interventions. This role provides rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment intervention to patients with cognitive and/or physical functioning disorders per regulatory and clinical practice requirements, under the supervision and direction of an Occupational Therapist. The OTA will administer various procedures as part of the rehabilitation plan, assess patient progress, communicate with the supervising Occupational Therapist to adjust treatments, and report on treatment outcomes. This position also involves providing consultation to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers, and effectively communicating with the supervisor and other health team members regarding patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans. The OTA will provide input for discharge summaries, document all required information in the electronic documentation system, and accurately record treatment minutes. Participation in required meetings and trainings is also expected. The OTA will work with the supervising Occupational Therapist to obtain necessary DME or supplies and may supervise and support students under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist. Adherence to NBCOT / AOTA and State Required practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics is mandatory.
