About The Position

At Vicar's Landing, our therapy team is passionate about helping residents maintain their independence, confidence, and quality of life. As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you'll play a vital role in helping residents regain and strengthen the skills needed for everyday living. Working closely with an Occupational Therapist and interdisciplinary care team, you'll provide hands-on therapy services that help residents participate in meaningful daily activities, improve functional abilities, and continue doing the things they love. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • Current Florida Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license
  • Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow treatment plans and clinical direction accurately
  • Ability to document treatment services thoroughly and professionally

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in senior living, skilled nursing, outpatient therapy, or rehabilitation settings
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
  • Experience with adaptive equipment, fall prevention, and functional mobility training
  • Knowledge of dementia care or memory support programming

Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational therapy treatments under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist
  • Assist residents in improving their ability to perform daily living activities such as dressing, bathing, grooming, and mobility
  • Implement individualized treatment plans and therapeutic activities designed to promote independence and safety
  • Monitor resident progress and communicate observations to the Occupational Therapist
  • Assist with the use of adaptive equipment and recommend techniques that improve function and quality of life
  • Educate residents and families on therapy goals, exercises, and safety practices
  • Complete documentation accurately and in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with nursing, therapy, and interdisciplinary team members to support resident success
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and professional standards
  • Help create a positive, encouraging environment that motivates residents throughout their therapy journey
