About The Position

Come work as an Occupational Therapy Assistant with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as part of the CAMU/AMU/ Surgical Short Stay team at UBC Hospital in Vancouver, BC. Apply now to join the team! Within the context of a patient/client/resident and family centered care model and in accordance with established vision and values of the organization, this position functions under the operational supervision of the Program Manager, practice supervision of Occupational Therapy Practice Coordinator, and the work direction of the designated occupational therapist, in coordination with other interdisciplinary team members to carry out established rehabilitative activities within the occupational therapy (OT) scope of practice. Responsibilities include receiving assignments and implementing lower risk interventions related to the clinical aspects of OT care plans, demonstrating and teaching activities, adapting devices to enable patients/clients/residents to maximize their potential for independence, providing functional direction to patients/clients/residents and family, and assisting/practicing daily living skills. Reports relevant observations of patient/client/resident progress and behaviours, provides direction to volunteers, organizes and cleans equipment and supplies, and maintains established inventory of supplies.

Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
