About The Position

This position provides students with a written course syllabus, participates in the evaluation of the instructional process, and uses innovative strategies to continually improve learning. The faculty member will participate in the development and support of their discipline by recommending books and materials, revising curricula, and recommending teaching assignments when appropriate. They will maintain accurate and complete course records and perform professional activities and assume professional responsibilities as agreed upon with the division dean. This role involves working with colleagues to achieve shared goals and visions, valuing the collaborative process, and using knowledge of diverse communities and learning styles to incorporate delivery of learning styles in instruction. The faculty member will participate in student advising and registration, utilize technology to facilitate learning and to access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with others. They will meet professional assignments in accordance with the System’s calendar and contractual obligations and comply with Dallas College board policies, state and federal policy, and the student code of conduct as appropriate. This role commits to the college mission and goals through participating in planning division objectives and budget requests. The faculty member will serve on and attend college committees as assigned, participate in campus commencement exercise(s) as required, and attend other required college meetings and activities. They will participate in their own performance appraisal, demonstrate the ability to work effectively with persons from diverse backgrounds, and may work with student clubs and/or organizations. The role requires demonstrating verbal and written communication skills to support and enhance effective interaction between Dallas College and other organizations, businesses and community groups as well as faculty, staff and students. The faculty member will promote the college in the community by participating in a variety of marketing activities and participate in professional development activities, completing required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with students.
  • Demonstrated skills in successfully working with diverse populations through experiences such as formal training and past work experiences.
  • The ability to provide quality customer service.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher awarded by an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the USDE.
  • Current Texas license in Occupational Therapy or Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Three (3) years of non‐teaching work experience
  • Will be subject to a criminal background check.
  • Some positions may be subject to a fingerprint check.
