About The Position

Home health occupational therapy services are provided by a licensed Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in Long Island. The role involves working one-on-one with adult and geriatric patients in their homes to improve their independence with daily activities, offering the flexibility to create one's own schedule.

Requirements

  • Current New York State Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license.
  • Strong communication and patient care skills.
  • Comfortable working independently in the community.

Nice To Haves

  • Home health experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Implement occupational therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
  • Help patients improve independence with ADLs and IADLs, including dressing, bathing, grooming, meal preparation, and other daily activities.
  • Reinforce upper extremity exercises, fine motor skills, coordination, balance during functional tasks, and home safety techniques.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on adaptive equipment, energy conservation, fall prevention, and safe performance of daily activities.
  • Monitor patient progress, communicate changes to the supervising OT, and complete timely EMR documentation.
