Westborough Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (WBHH) is a 117-bed psychiatric hospital providing comprehensive psychiatric care for children, adolescents, and adults. The Occupational Therapist is a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, responsible for providing therapeutic recreational and activity services to all patient populations. This role involves facilitating development and rehabilitation for individuals with emotional, mental, and developmental/intellectual challenges by planning and administering prescribed occupational therapy services.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in Occupational Therapy with certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapists (NBCOT).
  • Certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Have a current negative TB test or medical clearance.
  • Meet qualifications for fingerprint clearance.
  • CPR and CPI Certifications (must be obtained within 30 days of hire).

Nice To Haves

  • At least 2 Years of experience in working with persons with developmental/intellectual disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Provides therapeutic recreational and activity services to all patient populations.
  • Facilitates development and rehabilitation of individuals with deficits in emotional and mental well-being as well as developmental/intellectual delays.
  • Plans and administers medically prescribed occupational therapy services.
  • Develops and implements adjunctive therapy treatment plans in concert with the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Maintains clinical and administrative documentation associated with services rendered.
  • Develops and maintains individualized/group milieu programming.
  • Evaluates results of therapy by observing, noting, and evaluating patient’s progress; recommending and implementing adjustments and modifications as needed throughout the treatment team process.
  • Trains staff in therapeutic goals for individuals.
  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to design treatment plans which meet realistic functional goals.
  • Participates in the ongoing implementation of the department’s continuous quality improvement plan.
  • Plans and prepares activities.
  • Performs related duties as requested.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
