About The Position

The Inpatient Rehabilitation Center at Texas Health Dallas is seeking a passionate Occupational Therapist to join their diverse and inclusive team. This CARF accredited 44-bed unit, with Stroke and Amputee Program certifications, is recognized as a top rehabilitation hospital by U.S. News. The unit focuses on patient outcomes, individualized care, and the progression of therapeutic disciplines. The role involves performing age-appropriate patient treatment using therapeutic techniques, performing and delegating technical procedures safely, determining patient response to treatment, educating patients and families, and maintaining patient safety. The Occupational Therapist will also communicate with physicians and other healthcare personnel, demonstrate competence in age-appropriate treatment, and motivate patients to participate in therapy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Completion of an Occupational Therapy program Required
  • OT - Occupational Therapist Texas Occupational Therapy License Upon Hire Required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required

Responsibilities

  • Performs age-appropriate patient treatment
  • Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment
  • Performs treatment procedures that are within the scope of the professional license
  • Performs/delegates technical procedures appropriately and safely
  • Utilizes a variety of treatment techniques to achieve goals, if necessary
  • Determines patient response to treatment and evaluates progress (reassessment)
  • Educates patient and family through instruction, demonstration, and/or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, home programs/self-management and assistive equipment
  • Maintains patient safety throughout treatment
  • Communicates with physicians and other healthcare personnel as appropriate regarding patient care issues
  • Demonstrates competence in the performance of age-appropriate patient treatment and individualizes care based on age specific needs
  • Motivates non-compliant or unmotivated patients to participate in therapy
