About The Position

Evaluates students to determine their functional levels and identify special needs. Plans and implements therapeutic activities to assist special education students to benefit from their educational experiences. This is a temporary vacancy from 8/24/26 to 11/13/26, with a daily rate of $140.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a certified school of Occupational Therapy
  • Current license from the State of Michigan
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program
  • Ability to plan and implement lessons based on content, curriculum and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents
  • Skilled in oral and written communication
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
  • Applying assessment instruments
  • Operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate records
  • Basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios
  • Reading technical information
  • Composing a variety of documents
  • Facilitating group discussions
  • Analyzing situations to define issues and draw conclusions
  • Knowledge of appropriate codes, policies, regulations and/or laws

Responsibilities

  • Implementation to meet the IEP goals
  • Program planning and management
  • Provide training to the appropriate persons to carry over therapy goals in the school setting
  • Equipment/room maintenance
  • Program services include: self-help, functional mobility, environmental adaptations/adaptive equipment, positioning, motor functions, sensory processing, prevocational/vocational skills
  • Function as a team member for MET, IEPC and maintain contact with school, family, physicians and agencies
  • Screening, evaluation and reassessment to develop IEP
  • Formulate OT policies and procedures
  • Schedule students for evaluation and treatment
  • Oversee instructional accommodations for sensory and fine motor deficits for students in general education classes
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration
