About The Position

This position involves providing occupational therapy services to patients. The therapist will perform initial assessments, develop individualized plans of care in collaboration with physicians, and establish measurable goals. The role includes re-evaluating patient needs, documenting services accurately and in a timely manner, and completing monthly progress notes. The Occupational Therapist will also coordinate patient care with other healthcare team members, communicate changes in patient condition to physicians and staff, and counsel patients and families. Additionally, the role involves participating in in-service programs, supervising and teaching other healthcare personnel, contributing to the Quality Improvement program, promoting good public relations, and assisting in policy and procedure formulation for therapy services.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited program in Occupational Therapy.
  • BLS training.
  • Possess a current license as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Missouri.

  • At least one year of clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Missouri.

Responsibilities

  • Performs the initial occupational therapy assessment and works with the physician to develop an individualized plan of care for therapy services.
  • Establishes reasonable and measurable goals for the therapy and documents progress achieved.
  • Regularly re-evaluates the patient's therapy needs and revises the plan of care as the need arises.
  • Initiates and follows the physician's plan of treatment.
  • Initiates appropriate preventive and rehabilitative modalities.
  • Documents accurately services provided in a timely fashion.
  • Completes monthly progress notes, which includes a description of the services provided, the actual progress made, the patient's response to teaching, and other physical findings.
  • Works with other members of the health care team to coordinate patient care services.
  • Informs the physician and other personnel of changes in the patient's condition and needs.
  • Counsels the patient and family in meeting their therapy needs.
  • Participates in in-service programs.
  • Supervises and teaches other health care personnel.
  • Participates in the Quality Improvement program as required.
  • Promotes good public relations.
  • Participates in formulating policies and procedures as requested for therapy services.
