About The Position

Arizona Autism Charter Schools (AZACS) is seeking an Occupational Therapist (OT) to join their award-winning team at the new state-of-the-art autism center. The OT will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, treating, and helping students with sensory processing disorders, fine motor delay, and visual perception concerns. This role operates under the supervision of Campus and Charter Leadership and involves implementing student engagement strategies, conducting assessments, writing and monitoring individualized goals, and making data-driven instructional decisions. The position also requires implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies and providing OT services to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The role may involve supervising Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants (COTAs) and participating in MET and IEP meetings. The OT will work within a classroom integration model, consulting with teachers, parents, and other professionals, and ensuring compliance with school-wide systems and positive behavior interventions. Effective communication with students and families, paperwork compliance, and participation in staff training are also key aspects of the role. The position is for the 26/27 school year and includes a $3,000 sign-on bonus.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree or higher
  • Certified OTR in the state of Arizona
  • Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card
  • Experience delivering services in a school setting in a classroom integration model is preferred
  • Ability to approach situations with optimism and perseverance
  • Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills
  • Minimum of two years OT experience in a school setting preferred
  • Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis(ABA) preferred
  • stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
  • Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Responsibilities

  • Implement student engagement strategies that ensure adequate progress toward goals.
  • Conduct assessments/evaluations and collect data on students.
  • Write, implement, and progress monitor individualized communication goals for students on your caseload.
  • Engage in data-driven instruction decisions with the entire team.
  • Implement Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies throughout all practices.
  • Develops treatment plans, interventions, and/or educational materials for the purpose of meeting individualized student objectives and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide OT services to students with IEPs.
  • Possible supervision of COTAs with the implementation of OT services in the classroom, depending on caseload numbers.
  • Write and attend MET and IEP meetings as the SLP service coordinator.
  • Evaluate students in the area of speech and language as determined by the MET team.
  • Implement communication goals identified on student IEPs.
  • Consults with teachers, parents, other personnel, and/or outside professionals for the purpose of providing requested information, developing plans for services, and/or making recommendations and/or referrals.
  • Follow school-wide systems, rules, and positive behavior interventions.
  • Deliver services in a classroom integration model.
  • Coach classroom staff and SLPAs on the implementation of speech/communication goals.
  • Support for staff and students with Augmentative Communication Devices.
  • Support classroom curriculum as it relates to language acquisition.
  • Communicate effectively and proactively with students and families.
  • Responsible for paperwork compliance.
  • Accountability for growth and proficiency in IEP goals.
  • Participate in annual and ongoing staff training.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is considered an essential requirement of your position.
  • Complete Medicaid billing.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • May be required to coach, monitor, and mentor a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant working with students with disabilities.
