About The Position

The Occupational Therapist I job conducts evaluations on referred patients. To plan and implement a comprehensive treatment program that includes discharge planning, patient/family education, and recommendations for follow-up or continued care. This position documents results of the OT evaluation and services provided in accordance with hospital and department guidelines. The Occupational Therapist I job participates as a member of a self-directed departmental team as well as a member of an interdisciplinary patient care team. This role provides clinical instruction to OT and OTA students as needed. This role also provides training and education to department and hospital staff.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy.
  • Licensed (or licensure eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Completion of licensing requirements for new graduates within 1 year of graduation.
  • Maintenance of licensure once granted.
  • Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area.
  • New graduate to up to 2 years of work experience as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Ability to set schedule and manage time.
  • Ability to report in interdisciplinary rounds.
  • Ability to set goals for routine diagnoses.
  • Ability to complete routine documentation.
  • Ability to interact with the interdisciplinary team and self-directed work team.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates flexibility in work hours as needed to accommodate departmental needs.
  • Evaluates and treats patients with routine diagnoses.
