About The Position

Working under the direction of the Operational Manager and in collaboration with other members of the inter-disciplinary team, the Occupational therapist will assess and treat patients, delegate appropriate duties to OTA/ PTA, provide student supervision and maintain best practice standards in accordance with UHN policies and procedures. This position will primarily cover Oncology patients with Solid Tumor.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Masters of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy (M.Sc. (OT)) or equivalent
  • Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrates strong and effective written, oral, and nonverbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Member of Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) and/or Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT) is preferred
  • 1-2 years experience in an acute care hospital is preferred
  • Experience with acute patients preferred
  • Experience with Oncology, Surgical, GIM, Cardiovascular, Transplant, MSICU, &/or Nephrology patients an asset
  • Experience with psychosocial and physical health and related assessment and intervention skills addressing occupational performance
  • Experience with splinting, neurological dysfunction, as well as seating and positioning is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality occupational therapy services to patients at Princess Margaret Hospital within the framework of patient centered care
  • Communicate effectively with members of the inter-professional team
  • Provide education to patients, their families, occupational therapy students and interdisciplinary team members
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, meetings, committees and quality initiatives in the Department and relevant Programs/Services
  • Assist with coverage of other service areas where required
