Requirements

• NBCOT certification as an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR).
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree with certification.
• State of Michigan current licensure as an Occupational Therapist.

Nice To Haves

• 2-3 years of work experience with Neurological disorders, Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, and/or Orthopedic injury.

Responsibilities

• Provide occupational therapy services as prescribed by consumer’s physician for adults and adolescents with head injuries, spinal cord injuries, chronic pain, general orthopedic rehabilitation needs, and/or neurological behavioral issues as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Conduct evaluations, make recommendations for purchasing equipment in preparation for patient discharge, create treatment plans, complete progress reports, and perform daily documentation.
• Coordinate external equipment as needed.
• Develop treatment plans encompassing BADL, IADL, home accessibility, adaptive equipment, UE orthotic devices, visual assessment and treatment, pre-driving assessment and training, functional mobility training, community integration, and family education.
• Offer vocational adaptations in various settings.
• Develop home exercise programs (restorative program) for long term patients, and train restorative aides.
• Utilize all departmental equipment and implement equipment according to consumer goals/needs.
