About The Position

The Occupational Therapist conducts patient evaluations and develops personalized therapy plans to improve daily living skills and overall functionality. The role involves designing and implementing rehabilitation programs, tracking patient progress, and adjusting treatment to support recovery and therapeutic goals. The therapist collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, and educates patients and families on promoting independence, managing daily activities, and using adaptive equipment. This is an onsite outpatient position at Cayuga Medical Center’s Brentwood Clinic in Ithaca, New York, with flexibility to support other area clinic locations as needed. The position is 40 hours per week, with a flexible daytime schedule within clinic operating hours: Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Local travel between clinic locations may be required.

Requirements

Successful completion of an accredited occupational therapy bachelor’s program.
New York State licensure.

Responsibilities

Evaluate patients’ physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities and develop personalized therapy plans to improve daily living skills and overall functionality.
Design and implement customized therapy programs focused on rehabilitation, adaptation, and enhancing motor skills.
Track and document patient progress, adjusting therapy plans as needed to support recovery and therapeutic goals.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support integrated care and patient outcomes.
Educate patients and families on strategies to improve independence, manage daily activities, and use adaptive equipment.
