About The Position

As our Sr. Occupational Therapist, you will provide essential in-home occupational therapy services under a physician's orders. Your role involves evaluating home safety, assessing functional needs, and implementing tailored treatment to promote independence. Every day, you will evaluate home safety, assess the functional needs of physically disabled patients, and then develop, plan, and implement individualized occupational therapy treatment procedures. To be successful, you will demonstrate strong assessment, treatment planning, and implementation skills for in-home care. Excellent communication for patient education and a commitment to promoting independence and safety are essential. Appropriately assesses patients of varying diagnoses & disorders requiring Occupational Therapy according to established guidelines. Age range treated includes pediatric, adolescent, adult, & geriatric. Staff will be assigned only age ranges for which they meet the education, experience & training. Patients aged 0-21 with CCS insurance will either be seen by CCS paneled therapists or have oversight by a CCS paneled therapist. Establishes functional goals in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team based on the patient's rehabilitation potential. Develops, implements & modifies treatment plan in collaboration with interdisciplinary team to achieve established goals. Utilizes evidence-based practice as available. Incorporates patient/family/Care Partner needs, interests & goals in the development & execution of the treatment plan. Provides patient/family/Care Partner/caregiver education, initiating as soon as feasible after admission. Works to ensure transfer of knowledge using a variety of techniques (i.e., teach back, demonstration, video, written handouts). Establishes/follows patient precautions. Observes patient's response to treatment & reports unusual occurrences. Follows hand-off guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Occupational Therapy required
  • Minimum 10 years as a practicing OT for part-time/full-time staff, including demonstrated teaching responsibilities and evidence of continuing education required
  • Casual per diem staff minimum of 2 years experience required
  • Part-time/full-time staff must demonstrate advanced clinical expertise in a specialized area required
  • New applicants must present documentation of continuing education or experience required
  • Upon annual appraisal, must demonstrate participation in external continuing education or experience required
  • CA Occupational Therapist (CA OT License) required
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) required
  • Fire Safety (within 90 Days of start date) required
