Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program
  • Current, unrestricted Occupational Therapist license in the state of practice
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in a clinical care setting
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the assigned branch/office coverage area
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and support up to 50 pounds, including patient transfers and equipment movement

Responsibilities

  • Provide skilled occupational therapy services that help patients safely and confidently perform everyday activities.
  • Evaluate patients to determine rehabilitation needs, functional potential, and develop individualized plans of care.
  • Conduct initial therapy evaluations and ongoing reassessments according to OASIS and PPS regulatory guidelines.
  • Implement and adjust treatment plans to ensure quality outcomes and continuity of care.
  • Communicate patient progress, significant findings, and changes in condition to physicians and the care team.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on activities of daily living (ADLs) using adaptive equipment, sensory integration techniques, and fine motor coordination exercises.
  • Assist patients and caregivers with obtaining necessary equipment, including custom splint fabrication when appropriate.
  • Develop and teach home therapy programs with modifications as needed.
  • Provide counseling and guidance to patients and families regarding therapy goals and care needs.
  • Supervise and provide clinical direction to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA), Home Health Aides (HHA), and other clinical staff.
  • Ensure documentation meets professional standards, physician orders, and regulatory guidelines.
